Project Aims and Objectives

 

PROJECT AIMS: The main hypothesis in the project is that the elements that make up the physical building blocks of the living environments (the quality of land use, the location choices of urban services, the density of living environments, the topological and morphological characteristics of road networks, the spatial distribution of urban resources and services, etc.) have been determined that it has a significant effect on body-mass ratios, mental health and well-being. In this direction, within the scope of the project, it is aimed to examine the physical characteristics of living environments, the diversity and density of land use, various socio-economic characteristics of the inhabitants, and urban health indicators (physical activity, obesity and non-communicable chronic diseases such as heart diseases, hypertension, diabetes, depression) at different scales by using these characteristics.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES: 

1. To establish the relationship between health indicators on a provincial basis and built environment, accessibility and socio-economic indicators throughout Turkey. Thus, it is aimed to reveal the relations between the living environments of the regions and provinces and to reveal the regions and provinces that differ from other regions and provinces.

2. Within the scope of the main project, to analyze and design living environments and intra-settlement relations throughout the province of Ankara (metropolitan province borders).

3. To discuss how a community-participatory model can be created by analyzing individual characteristics in the creation of healthy and active living environments, and to provide a detailed database on this subject with surveys and qualitative studies.

4. To produce health, urban policy, program, plan and infrastructure strategies and proposal packages that can be designed with the aim of obtaining cities that support a mobile life.
